September 23: The First Day of Autumn

Well this morning, lovely Google decided to let me know that today was the first day of Autumn. YES! XD This is my favorite season. The trees turn into beautiful shades of orange, yellow, red, and purple. And if you’re driving up north by the mountains, all of the colors blend together and look so amazing. It’s honestly my favorite time of year.

I also have this bush that I can see from my window that turns into a shade of red and blends to orange and then yellow all at the same time. It’s one of my favorite window views in my house.

It’s also about that time where we can go apple and pumpkin picking! I’m allergic to apples but that doesn’t mean I can’t help pick them for my family! And we can make pumpkin pies and pumpkin breads. It shall be so delicious and tasty.

And after all these special baked goods, we will be getting bags of candy! Yup, Halloween is coming too! Am I too old to be dressing up? I don’t think so! I will be dressed up and walking down the streets of my town with my friends saying, “Trick or Treat” at every doorstep. Afterwards, we will trade candy for our favorites and hope to make some good bargains. HAHA! I’m so excited.

Last but not least, my birthday is coming up! And I shall be another year older. (maybe wiser too but I’m not too sure about that) Autumn is amazing, my favorite season and the best time of year! HAPPY FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN!

Who Knew that Skype Could be this AMAZING!

So I just updated my Skype on my computer. And I would have done it a while ago but I need my dad’s password to update it. (I don’t know but my dad has this weird thing with passwords where he won’t tell me any of them and they’re impossible to hack) But, I desperately needed to Skype a friend to prepare for another friend’s birthday. So I asked my dad to update it for me… And I am so glad that I did because…

IT’S LITERALLY THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!

IT BETTER THAN THE BEE’S KNEES! (<- I don’t even know if that is the right way to use this phrase but still I will say it anyways).

Not only can you video chat people but you can send little gifs from Dr. Who and the Muppets!! And you can leave video messages too! And you can type while in a video call. It’s honestly so awesome. I might be a little to excited about this but I really don’t care. HAHA! So I figured if any of you guys want to Skype me one day, feel free to send me an email and we can connect from there.

OH MY GOSH! THIS IS SO EXCITING!

Anyways, thanks for reading! Maybe expect another post tomorrow or later! 🙂

Spreading like Jelly

Last night I went to the my town’s high school’s first home football game. It was the Blackout so everyone from the town was there. I saw so many people that I haven’t seen since I was in eighth grade. And a lot of people have since then.

And I’ve realized that a lot of my friends have been spread around like jelly. Some of them aren’t as close as they used to be or they’ve just naturally drifted apart. And it’s not bad because a lot of these people are just trying to see where they fit among all of these other people.

But since I go to a different high school than all of my middle school friends, I’m finding it hard to see where I fit among my spreading friends. And I don’t want to abandon one friend for another. But I don’t think that I will have too. I’m just going to be friends with everyone. Hopefully this works.

I don’t know if all of this makes sense. But it was in my head and I just needed to write it out. Thanks for reading. 🙂

A Psalm of Life by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

TELL me not, in mournful numbers,

Life is but an empty dream! —

For the soul is dead that slumbers,

And things are not what they seem.

~

Life is real! Life is earnest!

And the grave is not its goal;

Dust thou art, to dust returnest,

Was not spoken of the soul.

~

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,

Is our destined end or way;

But to act, that each to -morrow

Find us farther than to -day.

~

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,

And our hearts, though stout and brave,

Still, like muffled drums, are beating

Funeral marches to the grave.

~

In the world’s broad field of battle,

In the bivouac of Life,

Be not like dumb, driven cattle!

Be a hero in the strife!

~

Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant!

Let the dead Past bury its dead!

Act, —act in the living Present!

Heart within, and God o’erhead!

~

Lives of great men all remind us

We can make our lives sublime,

And, departing, leave behind us

Footprints on the sands of time;

~

Footprints, that perhaps another,

Sailing o’er life’s solemn main,

A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,

Seeing, shall take heart again.

~

Let us, then, be up and doing,

With a heart for any fate;

Still achieving, still pursuing,

Learn to labor and to wait.

A Forgiven Betrayal?

My sister found my blog today… I feel like she kinda invaded on something that was personal. But the worst part was that she brought it up while having dinner. I’m really upset about this and I hope she doesn’t keep reading it. I don’t really think she will though, cause she didn’t really know in the first place that I didn’t want her reading it. But, she knows how I feel now. And I trust that she won’t keep reading my blog. Sorry for the sappiness, I just had to write this out for myself. I feel better now because I forgive my sister. I love my her and she’ll be my best friend forever.

Absolutely Nothing

Noth·ing

ˈnəTHiNG

Adjective 1. not one single thing

What if there was absolutely nothing left in the world. Everything just disappeared. The sky, the ground, the sun, the stars, the galaxies, the universe… Nothing left. What is nothing? Is it empty space? No, it wouldn’t even be space because that would be something. Nothing would have to be absolutely nothing. Would there be light or darkness? Or any sounds? And what would happen to every soul that was once living? Would they turn to nothing too, or would they float around waiting for something to happen out of the nothingness? What would happen if there was absolutely nothing?

Sitting by the Window

I’m sitting alone at home. Everyone left hours ago. My dad and mom went to work. And my sister is at school. My friends from school are all far away in different towns. And my friends from town are at school. And I am sitting on a comfy chair by the window alone because I don’t have school today. I finished my homework and I cleaned my room, very thoroughly and I practiced piano diligently. And now I’m listening to Norah Jones while I sit here pondering about whatever random thing passes my mind.

Before I decided to sit down and write, I was dancing around the house all by myself and then I did lots of sit-ups, push-ups, planks, squats, and other random exercises for no reason. I guess I just had a lot of energy that I needed to release. Believe me, I’m not this much of a loner. This just happens when I have nothing much to do. Besides, I’m going out with my friends later which should be lots of fun.

And, the season is changing into fall; my favorite season! And what’s more is that my birthday is coming up in about three weeks. I’m going to be fifteen… woah. I might have some sort of party. I’m not sure yet but I’ll figure it out soon. 🙂 Peace out for now!

Master Robot

My teacher engineering teacher has challenged me. He has put me in a group with two boys to design a robot. He has separated me from my three friends and put me in a group with two boys.

Let’s just say that last year, whenever my teacher put us into groups it usually didn’t up well for me. But this year is different! I have chosen to accept this challenge and to work with these two boys.

The first boy is British and moved to New Jersey about three years ago. He is pretty smart and very nice. Plus, he still has his accent; which I think is just really cool. And the second kid is a football player and he’s a cool dude in general. I sat next to him last year in Spanish and he was really funny. And he pretends that he’s not smart but actually this kid is a genius. Honestly, he’s going to end up being a rocket scientist with lots of money.

And so far, for the last few days it hasn’t been that bad. We got a hundred on our engineering notebook assignment which included research, notes, pictures, and our rough draft of a design. Then we started building our design. And I was actually helping and I didn’t feel excluded from the group. I was just so proud of myself and the group.

At one point we realized that we had a flaw in our design and we were trying to come out with an alternative idea that would still work. So, me being my creative self, said, “What if we used it backwards? Or, drove it in reverse?” And this question led to the finally idea of having an awesome catapult on our robot. Why would we push the mini soccer ball when we could throw it over! This was the best moment of the day and the team work here was definitely on point.

Even if our robot does not win the class competition, at least I’ll know that I made an effort of working with these two boys and it was not terrible. Let’s just hope that the rest of the project continues to be this successful.

Social Animals & Bananas

Today was the third day of school as a sophomore. And I would have to say that I have been very successful for the last three school days.

I had English today with Mr. Kruger and we had to journal our philosophy on life. He gave us four quotes and we had to chose one or come up with our own that would match our outlooks on life.

So after everyone was done with recording their ideas Mr. Kruger chose people to share their thoughts. One kid shared his answer and said that we are all really animals… social animals with thoughts. And I guess that’s true. So the teacher kept talking and then another kid shared that he read somewhere that we share 99% DNA as bananas. So I guess we’re technically bananas with 1% of different DNA that makes us humans.

So if my parents ask me what I learned today at school, I’ll tell them that I am 99% banana and a social animal.
